"For the past ten years, the specialised Master’s has constantly adapted and anticipated the rapid evolution of the subjects, the methods and technologies within the micro-electronics industry."
Our Postgraduate program in Microelectronics, will soon have been in existence for ten years. Its form, its teaching methods and its contents are continually being adapted to changes within the profession and different technologies as well as to the changes within the regional academic infrastructure.Notably, the establishment of the Centre de Microélectronique de l’Ecole des Mines à Gardanne and l’Ecole Centrale de Marseille have enabled a true integration of « our » Master’s within the regional academic infrastructure whilst conserving the availability of permanent adaptation to the needs of both small and medium-sized businesses as well as large industrial companies in the sector.
Running parallel to the educational team, notably from the CMP and the ECM, which I would like to thank for its commitment, is the STU team and industrial businessmen who have continually contributed to the improvement of the Master’s, and have also guaranteed the best employment prospects for the future graduates.
We think that this Master’s has several rare and unique advantages. In particular, there is a strong academic/industrial interaction where the synergy between the institutions contributes to its programme. There is also a strong internationalisation which assists future graduates to respond to other cultures and learn how to work in a network with partners “from the other side of the globe.” The fact that English is the “official” language of the Master’s does not necessarily help the teachers’ task. However, this has enabled us to undertake the move towards the international arena.
For the past ten years, the specialised Master’s has constantly adapted and anticipated the rapid evolution of the subjects, the methods and technologies within the micro-electronics industry. I have no doubt whatsoever, that the teams in place will follow the dynamic evolution of our profession.
