		ESAW'08 9th International Worshop Engineering Societies in the Agents World


	Colloquium / September 24-26, 2008 - ENSM Saint-Étienne, France ESAW'08 The 9th Annual International Workshop "Engineering Societies in the Agents World" will be held at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Mines de Saint-Etienne (ENSM-SE) in Saint-Etienne, France on the 24th, 25th and 26th of September, 2008. The sequel to successful editions since 2000, ESAW 08 remains committed to the use of the notion of multi-agent system as seed for animated, constructive, and highly inter-disciplinary discussions about technologies, methodologies, and tools for the engineering of complex distributed applications. While the workshop places an emphasis on practical engineering issues and applications, it also welcomes theoretical, philosophical, and empirical contributions, provided that they clearly document their connection to the core applied issues. 		JETC IX Joint European Thermodynamics Conference


	Colloquium / June 12-15, 2007 - ENSM Saint-Étienne, France JETC IX - Joint European Thermodynamics Conference All topics in thermodynamics are considered. Special attention will be given to: 1) Thermodynamics after Prigogine; 2) New approaches in thermodynamics; 3) Thermodynamics and engineering sciences; 4) Thermodynamics and natural sciences (biology, geology) During the conference the Ilya Prigogine Prize of Thermodynamics will be awarded to a promising young researcher in Thermodynamics for his PhD thesis. 		International prize for the scientific literacy of the children of the planet


	The members of the jury and their president Pr Georges Charpak met on March 14th 2006 at the French Academy of Science (Paris) and decided to award the prize to Wei Yu and Karen Worth in recognition for their work. Both have contributed to the awakening of a scientific spirit among children through their respective projects “Zuo zhong xue ” for Wei Yu and “K-12 Science Curriculum Dissemination Center” for Karen Worth.
