The Sciences,
Information and Technologies for the Environment
center was created at the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne
in July of 1999.
Research is geared towards Industrial Environment, mainly organised around the following fields
Water
resources management Treatment,
recycling and valorization of wastes Soil
pollution characterization and cleanup Wastewater
treatment Analysis
of natural or industrial risk Environmental
management
For the fulfillment of it's research goals, the center develops
it's competences in
Hydrology and hydrogeology Monitoring,
supervision and assistance in management of eco-processes Environmental
diagnosis of industrial processes Environmental
information systems (industrial, territorial,
geographic) Educational
simulators of the management of environmental
projects
The activities
of the SITE center converge to the objectives
of sustainable development (Agora
21, francophone information system for
small and medium companies and institutional entities).
